TurboBass vs Bass XXL

Bass XXL by Denise Audio adds harmonics above a root frequency, in parallel with your untouched signal. TurboBass also adds harmonics, but it splits the signal at a crossover, so you can turn the original sub down or off as well. That one difference decides a lot of what each is good at.

Which one to choose

Bass XXL is the better fit if

  • You work in Pro Tools: Bass XXL comes as AAX.
  • You want the harmonics to follow the notes you play, via MIDI.
  • You want to keep the dry signal completely untouched and only add on top.
  • You want an oversampling switch or more factory presets.

TurboBass is the better fit if

  • You are mixing for phones and laptops and want to replace part of the sub, not only add to it.
  • You want to choose between even and odd harmonics, and set their brightness and drive.
  • You want upper-bass weight (Body) and how the harmonics follow the bass (Dynamics, Sustain).
  • You want a lower price.
